Coosaw Island is a small, quiet residential community reached off Sea Island Parkway near Lady's Island and St. Helena, connected by causeway roads that wind through tidal marsh before reaching the island itself. It is far less developed than the resort islands nearby, with a mix of older waterfront cottages, mobile homes and newer construction spread out along winding, marsh-lined roads rather than a planned subdivision layout. Fishing and shrimping have historically been part of life here, and many properties still back directly onto tidal creeks. Because the island is small and the roads narrow in places, deliveries take a bit of extra care, but Coosaw Island is a real part of our regular Lady's Island-area coverage and we know the causeway roads well.

Coosaw Island Drive and the connecting causeway roads off Sea Island Parkway are narrow and marsh-lined in stretches, so we plan container placement carefully around limited shoulder space and low-lying, sandy approaches near the water. Work here is almost entirely residential — home renovations on older waterfront cottages, yard and storm debris cleanup after heavy rain, and the occasional new-construction job on one of the island's larger remaining lots. High water tables close to the marsh mean we sometimes recommend boards under the container even for a routine driveway drop.

On private property — a driveway, a yard, a job site — you will not normally need a permit anywhere in Beaufort County, and that covers the large majority of our Coosaw Island deliveries. What matters far more is whether the surface can take the weight and whether the truck can physically get in.

If the container has to sit on a public street or right-of-way in Coosaw Island, that usually changes. Check with Beaufort County before you book, and expect requirements around reflectors, barricades or overnight lighting. Beaufort County handles matters outside city and town limits. Rules genuinely differ from one municipality to the next around here, so please do not rely on what a neighbour in another town was told.

A few practical things that come up repeatedly in Coosaw Island:

• Access. Our truck needs roughly 60 feet of straight approach and about 23 feet of vertical clearance to raise the hoist. Mature live oaks and low service drops rule out the bigger containers on plenty of older streets.
• Hurricane season. June through November is the real seasonal risk here — tropical storms, heavy rain and storm-surge flooding can affect delivery and pickup timing. Tell us if you are working around a storm window and we will plan the schedule accordingly.
• High water table and sandy soil. Much of Beaufort County sits low and close to the marsh. Soft, sandy ground near tidal areas needs boards or plywood under the container more often than a firm inland driveway does.
• Summer heat. Asphalt softens badly on a hot, humid July afternoon. We book morning deliveries where we can and always put boards down.
• Covenants. Newer subdivisions sometimes restrict how long a container can sit visible from the street. Worth a two-minute check.
